DHAKA: A Dhaka
court Wednesday summoned popular film-actor Shakib Khan to appear
before it on May 19 in a fraud case filed for his alleged
misappropriation of money.
Film-producer Monowar Ehtasham, also
the Chief Executive Officer of Judge Multimedia, Wednesday filed the
case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.
According to
the complaint, on December 7 last year, Sakib signed a deal with Judge
Multimedia for performing in two films. Schedules for him were set as
per deal.
Sakib demanded a total of Tk 60 lakh for his acting
remuneration and he took Tk 40 lakh in advance. But he did not turn up
for the acting performance on the scheduled day and the authorities
wanted to know the reasons. At that time, he got angry and denied having
taken Tk 40 lakh in advance.
“At one stage, when the authorities of the company wanted refund of the money, Sakib threatened them,” adds the case statement.
Earlier,
Shish Monowar and Abdul Aziz got bail from the case filed by Sakib Khan
against five persons for allegedly threatening to “kill’ him.
Moreover,
the artistes of the Film Development Corporation (FDC) are continuing
work abstention in protest against terrorist attack on Sakib Khan on
April 16.
Responding to the demands by various organizations, FDC
authorities are taking preparation to file case against the attackers
on Sakib Khan, an FDC source said.
When contacted, Sakib Khan
told banglanews, “The date for performing in the film of ‘Anya Rakam
Bhalobhasa’ was not fixed due to mismanagement of the producers and
directors and it is known to all involved with the film. A vested
quarter is making conspiracy against me. I will face the matter
legally.”
